By City Pup Life

When you're ready for a weekend getaway with your pup, it's usually a good idea to protect your car (especially if it's a rental car) from sharp nails or muddy paws. A towel or other covering can work in some cases, but these can also create a more dangerous situation if they slip around easily causing your dog to lose traction and fall.

There are a variety of affordable options that will keep your car clean and make any cleanup quick and easy. Trust us, you don't want to spend a day washing mud out of the car or paying for detailing services when an inexpensive seat cover can save you the trouble!

Two main styles for back seats are a bench-style or hammock. The bench style is pretty much what it sounds like, and it just covers your back seat and folds down into the floor. A hammock cover folds up at the front of the seats and comes up the back of the front seats, creating a "hammock" between the rear and front seats. This provides some barrier to help keep your dog in the back, and also prevents them from falling into the floor if you need to make a quick stop.

Our Choice

URPOWER Dog Seat Cover

The URPOWER Seat Cover is overall our top choice. It hits all the sweet-spots for price, functionality, and quality. Its setup is pretty versatile, and it can be used as both a bench-style seat cover or as a hammock. It has great coverage, comes in three color options, and stays in place thanks to its non-slip backing.

4Knines Dog Seat Cover

The 4Knines Dog Seat Cover is a luxury pick, and it's at the high end of the price range for seat covers. It has a high-quality design and is made in the USA. It comes in a variety of cuts to better fit your vehicle, and it allows access to all three seat belts while it is installed. The attention to detail and versatility are really what set these covers apart. If you plan to leave them installed and still use the car without the pups, this might be the best choice.

Gorilla Grip Seat Cover

The Gorilla Grip Seat Cover is affordable and durable. It is waterproof, slip resistant, and designed to fit most cars. It also is machine-washable so it cleans up easy. You might want to hose it off before throwing it in the washer if your pup gets it as muddy as ours do! This cover is affordable enough even for very rare uses, since it's cheaper than cleaning out the back of your car.
