Some dogs need a little more support, and if you want to take them on a long adventure you might need to carry them part of the way. It also might just be easier to carry your pup if you're headed to a crowded event. Having a pack will let you hold them more securely, manage them for longer times, and to keep your hands free.

There are many great options, primarily falling into two categories: backpacks and slings. We rounded up a few of the best options to get you started on finding the right one for your pup. Keep in mind that these are all designed for smaller pups (although we have seen a few larger pups being carried :)). There are a lot of different brands and styles, and while we couldn't possibly cover them all, here are a few to get you started on your search. Let us know if you have a favorite and think we should consider adding it to our list!

Our Choice

K9 Sport Sack Air

The K9 Sport Sack is an adjustable backpack-style pet carrier. This pack is designed for small to medium dogs up to 30 pounds. It fits more like a standard backpack rather than having a boxy design, and it has vented, moisture wicking shoulder pads to help keep you cool on summer days. It comes in a variety of colors to fit your style, and several sizes to fit most (smaller) dogs.

The team at K9 Sport Sack also make a few versions of larger bags, so if you need one for your larger dog check out their other offerings!

Kurgo Dog Carrier Backpack

Kurgo makes some of our favorite products. If you aren't familiar with them, we think of it as combining city sensibility with quality built for adventure, and they make a lot of outdoor oriented gear for dogs. This pack is designed for smaller dogs up to 25 pounds, and unfortunately they don't currently make any for larger dogs. It is built like a sturdy daypack with room for your pup. Among its many highlights, it has a mesh back panel, sturdy hip belt. And as always, Kurgo's lifetime warranty.
